Summer Camp for Kids

Increase your child’s creativity in a stimulating and engaging environment at the Academy Art Museum. Select from the many visual or performing themes, each of which has been designed by an artist/educator to teach children how to express themselves creatively and with confidence.

Young Explorers Camps

Daily activities will include lots of hands on art, music and movement activities. All programs will follow the curriculum for early childhood education provided by the Smithsonian Institition.

Cost (per week): $125 members, $135 non-members

Kaleidoscope Summer Arts Camp

Ages: 6 years & up
Dates: July 25-29 & August 1-5
Times: 12:30 - 3:30pm

An Innovative Summer Arts Experience!

Each week will feature opportunities to explore and develop projects from observation and imagination. Drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and printmaking will be included in the processes. Each week is different - register for both weeks!

Cost: $90 members, $100 non-members

Handbuilding and Wheel Throwing

Instructor: Rebecca Ravenal

Ages: 12+
Mon., - Fri., August 8-12
10:30am - 12:30pm

Participants will explore different ways of working with clay, from hand building to “throwing on the potters wheel to sculpture and functional ware. Each student will be able to complete several pieces, including glazing on the last day. Pieces will be fired and ready for pick up after the session ends. Beginners and those with experience welcome.
