STEVE MCCURRY: AFGHANISTAN PHOTOGRAPHS

The Academy Art Museum will display more than a dozen photographs by Steve McCurry, best known for a National Geographic cover shot of the Afghan Girl (June 1985).
While this exhibition brings together a selection of work from an internationally recognized photojournalist, the occasion is part of a larger program meant to highlight a speaking engagement by Dr. Khaled Hosseini, the author of The Kite Runner, who will come to Easton’s Avalon Theatre on October 22nd. In addition, the Waterfowl Festival building will display additional photographs by Zalmai Ahad and Joseph Hoyt from October 15-22nd.
Support for the overall programming comes from the Women and Girl’s Fund, the Aperture Foundation, the Dock Street Foundation and the Academy Art Museum.
