This Exhibition highlights the work of Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Sully, Eastman Johnson and Thomas Eakins in the Museum’s Atrium gallery. Viewers will able to trace the American evolution of portrait painting from the idealized stylings of those trained in the British tradition to the less formal approach favored at the end of the century
