Each Member has the opportunity to show work in any medium including oil, watercolor, graphics, mixed media, jewelry, painting and sculpture. This exceptional tradition represents the best of the region’s artists and reveals the creative talents of colleagues and friends.
Michael Preble is the Curator and Program Director at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News, Virginia, a position he has held since October 2004. Prior to coming to Hampton Roads, Michael was Deputy Director for Programming at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. He has held senior curatorial positions at the Arkansas Arts Center; Portland Museum of Art, Maine; and the Bass Museum, Miami Beach, among others. He also served as guest curator for the William Baziotes retrospective exhibition at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy and is currently Editor of the William Baziotes Catalogue Raisonné project.
He holds a BA in Art History from Cornell University and an MA in Humanities from California State University. Michael is also an active fine arts photographer, with an exhibition history dating back to 1989. He has exhibited in museums and galleries in Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri.
